Toppan Honored as 'Best Supplier' by SSMC

Toppan Is the Sole Photomask Maker to Receive Special Recognition From Singapore-based Leader in CMOS Foundry Services

Toppan Photomasks, Inc. announced today that it is one of only six suppliers – and the only photomask maker – to receive Special Tribute and Recognition (STAR) from Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Co. Pte. Ltd. (SSMC), a leading provider of CMOS foundry services. Toppan's "Best Supplier Award" for 2006 recognizes the company for going "the extra mile" for its foundry partner.

Suppliers honored by SSMC, a Singapore-based joint venture of NXP B.V. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC), must meet a pre-determined set of demanding performance criteria. Toppan scored among the foundry's highest-rated partners in SSMC's Supplier Rating System, in which SSMC and its key suppliers jointly measure, review and drive performance improvement. Measurement criteria include quality, responsiveness, support, cost, technology and logistics.

"SSMC's supplier awards are our way of recognizing and congratulating our partners who have gone the extra mile to exceed our expectations," said C.V. Jagadish, CEO of Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Co. "Toppan's superior performance across the board plays an important role in SSMC's continued leadership in CMOS foundry services."

The STAR award once again demonstrates the industry-leading technology and support Toppan continuously provides its customers through its integrated global network of facilities serving chip manufacturers and foundries in all semiconductor-producing regions.

"This Best Supplier award from our valued partner SSMC demonstrates both our commitment to quality and service, and the competitive advantages Toppan's worldwide network of facilities provides our customers," said Dave Murray, president and CEO of Toppan Photomasks. "Our extensive and integrated capabilities enable SSMC and its foundry customers to meet time-to-market demands and maintain leadership in their respective businesses."
